Shooting Star
S/N 52-9497

This type of aircraft was stationed at Dover from 1951-1966 for pilot refresher training. Developed from the P-80 jet fighter, this two-seat trainer was a real success preparing pilots for upgrade to high performance jets.

The Shooting Star trainer at the Museum was picked up at Lackland AFB and disassembled in one day. As part of a C-5 training mission, the plane was shipped to Dover were it was restored.

Received into collection in November 1993.
